![]() Where The Wild Things Are (1963) is Sendak’s most famous book. Just reading his thoughts on art and life make me feel more balanced. This is what Mardi lives for, a cause worthy of “selling her body” and Bedri has joined her in her goal.Maurice Sendak was a mensch, a wonderful man. EcoGuinea was at the vanguard of education during the recent Ebola outbreak. A community-based charity, Guineans take on essential projects to tackle sub-standard sanitation, actions that have helped many children to survive and thrive. She has lived around the world but the people of Guinea stole her heart in 2000 where she has found her most impassioned work. The model, Mardi Kendall, 30 at the time of the photos, (Bedri was 27) is a one-time cellist, Parisian model and long-time shiatsu healer and yoga teacher. He is the author of 23 books and has been a central player in the Turkish intellectual and political scene since the 1980s. His work has been exhibited in more than 125 one-man shows worldwide and his challenge to the western art establishment was the subject of his 1994 book Monkey’s Right to Paint. ![]() The photographer is Bedri Baykam, one of Turkey’s best-known artists and humanitarians and a self-proclaimed cultural guerilla. Innocent, sexy and delightful, these nude photos say as much about the times they were created in as they do about the artists.
